Bolt Action game: Soviets vs German paras

We played a fun game of Bolt Action today, with Soviets and German paras duking it out over a bridge.  Highlights of the game were my flamethrower team burninating two German squads (and the gunner of the team living to tell about it and, I like to think, carrying his wounded assistant to safety after the 'thrower ran out of gas) and the PaK 40 defeating both T-34s.  We called the game a draw, as both sides were shot to pieces but neither side had clear control of the bridge. Pics below and a few of my thoughts on Bolt Action afterward.

3mm Romans

I painted up some Magister Militum 3mm Roman troops on commission. They figures were fun and easy to paint and really create the impression of mass when deployed together.  The customer will finish the basing at his end. Thanks for looking!

Jungle terrain commission

I built this jungle terrain for a gamer who intends to use it with cavemen and dinosaurs--hence the bones and big egg nests! They are intended for 28mm. More pics after the bump. Thanks for looking.

About 6 square feet of terrain--two dino skeletons, the geyser, two tarpits, two egg nests (one elevated, one on ground), and numerous areas of jungle.

Armored Combat supplement for A Sergeant's War

The platoon of Sherman tanks, down to three tracks thanks to landmines and breakdowns, emerged from the wood and accelerated across a clearing.  Immediately, the crack of a high-velocity gun cut through the air.  Sergeant Glen, peeking out of the turret hatch of Daisy Darling, reflexively ducked.  He scanned the far side of the field, looking for an AT gun emplacement or an enemy tank.  Another round cracked and Mobile Macy, about fifty yards to his right, lurched to a halt and leaked flame and smoke.

A third round cut overhead.  Over the intercom he heard the driver say a prayer and his gunner curse.  There was a killer out there, and they hadn’t even managed to spot it yet…

Armored contains scenarios and special rules for use with the WWII small unit game A Sergeant’s War (ASW).  The scenarios are perfectly compatible with other wargame rules, of course.

It is available online at the Wargame Vault

Vietnam War AAR

We played a fun Vietnam War game on Saturday, using the WWII rules "Battleground WWII," with a few modifications.  The game was fun and I was reminded of how much fun I had with BGWWII back when it came out in the late 90s.  Pics and an AAR of the game below, and some self-indulgent ruminations on those classic gaming rules.  Thanks for looking!

Vietnam War in 20mm

Here are some 20mm Vietnam War US Army minis, from various manufacturers.  More pics and info about the project after the bump.  Thanks for looking!
A short platoon in the field: three squads of 8 men each, a platoon command element, and two M-60 teams

A Few Saga Vikings

I have nearly finished my Saga force of Vikings, in 28mm.  They are a mix of manufacturers.  Here are a few pictures.  Thanks for looking!
