I have released a 5-scenario campaign pack called Another Day on Okinawa, for my WWII rules A Sergeant's War. It is available for sale at the Wargame Vault for $1.99. It's a tough set of scenarios, with each side facing particular challenges: the Marines have plenty of firepower and excellent leadership, but the Japanese are dug in tight, with good artillery support and high morale.

Playtesting with PowerPoint
After reading an interesting post on The Miniatures Page, I decided to try and create my own PowerPoint playtest. The idea is to create a slide in P.P. and use it as your map, with images that you can drag around to serve as your units. You can keep notes all in the same frame, too. The screenshot below is of a playtest for an Okinawa game for a scenario pack I'm putting together for A Sergeant's War. Some more after the bump.

Armored Combat supplement for A Sergeant's War
The platoon of
Sherman tanks, down to three tracks thanks to landmines and breakdowns, emerged
from the wood and accelerated across a clearing. Immediately, the crack of a high-velocity gun
cut through the air. Sergeant Glen,
peeking out of the turret hatch of Daisy Darling, reflexively ducked. He scanned
the far side of the field, looking for an AT gun emplacement or an enemy tank. Another round cracked and Mobile Macy, about fifty yards to his right, lurched to a
halt and leaked flame and smoke.
A third round cut
overhead. Over the intercom he heard the
driver say a prayer and his gunner curse.
There was a killer out there, and they hadn’t even managed to spot it
yet…
Armored
contains
scenarios and special rules for use with the WWII small unit game A Sergeant’s War (ASW). The scenarios are perfectly compatible with
other wargame rules, of course.
It is available online at the Wargame Vault

introductory/designer notes, a table of contents, and the scenarios.

New Guinea 1942: AAR
We played a game of A
Sergeant’s War on Saturday at Stronghold Games in McAllen, TX. The scenario was based on the American 32nd
Infantry Division’s operations on New Guinea in November/December 1942, when
they fought against well entrenched Japanese forces. The game was hard fought, with sharp Japanese
counter attacks, heavy fire from MG bunkers, and point blank shots from US
Stuart tanks. Pictures below, mixed in
with a description of the game after.
Here is a link to my blog, where I have included a full order of battle,
notes, and a map.

War in the Pacific: US Army and Japanese Army
I have painted two opposing platoons of US infantry and Japanese infantry for use in an upcoming Okinawa mini-campaign for my rules, A Sergeant's War. They are 15mm scale; the Japanese are mostly Resistant Roosters (available from Historifigs) and the Americans are mostly Old Glory. I think the Americans are actually paratroopers, but they were what I have so...close enough!
Thanks for looking! Lots of pics below.

The Column: A Sergeant's War After Action Report
I set up one of the scenarios available in my rules set, A Sergeant's War, for a quick game today. I had never actually played the game with miniatures, as I do my playtesting with paper and counters (to save time). Here is a summary of how the game played, with plenty of pictures.

Here are pictures and a blow-by-blow account, including a description of game mechanics.

Eastern front tank action---A Sergeant's War playtest
I ran another playtest of A Sergeant’s War, my WWII rules-in-development. Today’s game was a test of the armor/vehicle
rules. We played 2 games in about 90
minutes, each one with about 16 vehicles in total, Germans vs. Soviets, in 6mm
scale.
In the first game, a company of T-34s advanced on 3 Pz IV-Hs
and a single Tiger. The Germans gave one
half of the company a shellacking—knocking out 4 of 6 tanks—but on the other
flank, the T-34s got in close and made mincemeat of the Germans at close
range. The Germans withdrew, with one Pz
IV knocked out, one abandoned, the Tiger damaged and abandoned, and the
remaining Pz IV retreating.

After Action Report: Small unit action in the Hurtgen
I playtested my rules, A
Sergeant’s War, again tonight. This was a generic scenario set somewhere in the Hurtgen
Forest, November 1944. An understrength
American platoon has been ordered to clear a ridgeline of German
resistance. AAR and some discussion of the rules below.

Into the Hurtgen
I am writing a scenario/campaign book for the Battle of the
Hurtgen Forest in WWII—I’ve been having a great time researching and am up to
about 25 scenarios in 5 campaigns (which can be strung together as one long
campaign). Tentatively titled Meat Grinder, I plan to publish it in
early 2015.
